Anyway, my point was...the lecture was fine, Bill Viola is very low-key and humble for someone who's probably the most famous and beloved living artist of the 20th century. But what really got me was a Van Gogh quote that Viola repeated more tha once while talking about his life as an artist, it went something like this:
"Drawing is the wall between one's imagination and the limits of one's talent"
I wanted to share that here because it fits the spirit of DA imo...it certainly fits my way of dealing with my daily desire to produce art. It's very bitter, but true and honest. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has to face that wall and bump headfirst into the reality of one's own limitations, not matter what amazing things one's settled down to achieve whenever a new picture takes shape into our head.
